Our story so far and where we’re going

We wanted to take a pause this month from our normal coverage of financial news and personal finance stories to give you an update from ourselves at Brunel. With 2016 fast approaching, we are beginning to look to the year ahead and to our plans for the firm, to continue to improve our services for you, our clients.

Many of you may be familiar with our Company Values document, which is always available on our website and continues to govern every decision we take, as well as the overall direction of the firm.

It’s important to remember at this point where we came from as financial planners. Almost everyone involved with the creation of Brunel had come from a larger financial advice firm. We were all concerned that this was not the best way to deliver truly personal financial planning and so Brunel was created to do just that. As our Values document says, Brunel’s size and expertise allows us to put clients first. We deliver quality financial planning because of that and will continue to do so.

Our Values document also says that we will continually improve. Though we are confident in the work that we do, we also feel that every business, everywhere, needs to constantly critically assess how they can make changes to improve the client experience.

For 2016, we have identified a number of ways in which we believe we can do just that. Clients will start to see these very positive changes being introduced during the early months of the year when we will, of course, provide full details.

An example of a change that is on the horizon can be found in our investment processes. We have looked carefully at how we work with our investment partner and identified areas where we think we can deliver increased speed and efficiency and reduced administration. Part of this change will also see us bring in an in-house investment expert. We will be able to process investment changes faster, deal with paperwork more efficiently and communicate with you more clearly.

We’ll make clear the details of exactly how we’ll do this very soon, but we wanted to reassure you this and other improvements for 2016 are on their way, in order to make the business even better for you.

As you will probably also already know, we held another successful client event during 2015 and the plan is for this to continue with several more during 2016. One of the most valuable things for us during these events is to hear feedback from you on how you think we can take the business forward. The above mentioned changes were helped and informed by your feedback from previous events and we look forward to, and encourage you, to share even more of it during the year ahead.
