This month, we’re delighted to welcome Charlotte Gaffey to the Brunel team, as a Financial Planning Assistant.
Charlotte joins us from a SIPP administration company where she worked as part of the investment team and so has plenty of financial services experience already, having previously completed her degree in History at Coventry University.
Charlotte has already hit the ground running and will be working closely with the team, dealing with elements of our client communication process; contributing to annual reviews, and day-to-day correspondence with clients. She will also be furthering the knowledge she already has of financial service, building up her understanding of pensions and investment with a view to completing her financial exams at some point in the not too distant future.
Away from work, Charlotte is currently based in Yate and spends much of her free time with friends; travelling, dancing or hitting the gym. She has spent a year abroad, splitting her time between Bordeaux, France and Long Beach, California. If the weather is good then Charlotte’s weekends will normally involve a trip to the beach, although we’re sure Bristol’s sand doesn’t quite compare with the East Coast of the US!
All of us here are delighted that Charlotte has agreed to become a member of the team and we hope you’ll all join us in welcoming her to Brunel!
We’re now just one month away from our Summer charity bicycle ride and so the preparations have been stepped up! Extra training is taking place, more stretches occur around the Brunel office every day and orders for the more comfortable bicycle seats available have increased at all good online retailers!
With all that preparation, the serious news is, of course, the money being raised for charity and we’re pleased to announce that we’re nearly 60% of the way towards our total goal of £3,000, at the time of writing.
Your contributions so far have been invaluable and both ourselves at Brunel and our chosen charity, Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW), are incredibly grateful for your support.
CHSW, if you are not already familiar with them, are a fantastic cause, dedicated to helping children who are living with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions and their families. The work they do really is amazing, filling their three local hospices with joy and laughter on every occasion, to make the most of the time the children they look after get to spend with their families.
The ride our team are taking part in is organised by CHSW and it will see our five brave cyclists (Andy, Beccy, Damien, Dave and Steve) spend three days in the saddle over the course of the 11th July – 13th July weekend. Dubbed ‘The Ride for Precious Lives’, our group will join the other CHSW riders and visit the three charity hospices; starting in Cornwall and returning to the Charlton Farm hospice near Bristol, having covered the 210 mile course.
Thank you if you have already donated to the ride: your donation really will make a difference and we are extremely grateful for your support. If you have not yet donated and feel as though you are able to, you can do so at our Just Giving page here, or get in touch with us directly via any of the methods on the Contact Us page.
Thank you again for your support for this great cause… now, we’d better get back to the training!

Planning for your family’s future can often seem complicated, involving different actions and advisers and making a process that can already be full of worry seem drawn-out and expensive.
It needn’t be like that though, which is why today we are announcing a new service, in tandem with our friends in the legal profession, to make Estate Planning simple.
As part of our holistic approach to financial planning, making a plan for your estate and your family is a vital part of managing your finances. With our Estate Planning service, it is also an easy one.
We will co-ordinate the entire process, dealing with solicitors where appropriate, to put together a plan for your estate that takes proper account of elements such as Inheritance Tax, having a proper Will in place and passing on power of attorney.
The process is clear, quick and easy and can be completed as part of your wider financial planning goals.
For more information on our Estate Planning service, you can visit the new dedicated page on the website here or get in touch with our office via any of the methods listed on our Contact page.
This summer, we will be taking part in the Ride For Precious Lives charity cycle event, which aims to raise money for Children’s Hospice South West, a charity dedicated to helping children who are living with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions.
The event will see our team ride to each Children’s Hospice South West location; starting at St Austell in Cornwall, before calling in to Little Bridge House in Devon and finishing at Charlton Farm near to Bristol – a distance of 210 miles over the course of a 3-day long weekend!
We’re hoping to raise £3,000 towards the charity cause, which in the past five years has managed to generate £335,000 of donations towards the hospices. This fantastic cause needs more though and we are delighted to help in any way we can.
If you feel you can support us, we have a Just Giving page here where you can donate.
The team aiming to complete the journey consists of:
Andy – hard at work training. Andy is currently cycling a total of 120 miles per week to our offices from his home in Portishead.
Beccy – taking the ride in a competitive spirit, Beccy has two races scheduled before completing the ride, including the Dartmoor Classic.
Damien – in an effort to boost fitness for the gruelling 3-day event, Damien is working with a personal trainer.
Dave – has dedicated a substantial amount of time to ensuring he has a comfortable ride, by researching the most appropriate pair of shorts!
Steve – Steve plays hockey at a high level and has been using that sport to get ready for his part in the ride.
The team are really looking forward to the event on the weekend of 11th – 13th July… but they need your support! Anything you can give would be much appreciated and all donations are greatly appreciated at our Just Giving page here.
